JPG to PDF: Convert Photos and Scanned Documents
How to convert JPG photos to PDF, fix sideways pictures and get readable results from phone photos of documents.
JPG is the format most phones and cameras use, which makes it the most common file to turn into a PDF.
How to convert
- Open the image to PDF converter and add your JPG files.
- Choose a page size and margin.
- Click Convert to PDF.
Sideways photos
Phones store the orientation of a photo as extra information. The converter reads it, so most photos come out upright. If one is still sideways, press the rotate button before converting.
Photos of documents
- Lay the page flat and photograph it from directly above.
- Use bright, even light and avoid your own shadow.
- Fill the frame with the page so text stays large.
- Choose A4 with a small margin for a page that looks like a normal document.
Large phone photos
Phone photos are often 12 megapixels or more. To keep PDFs a sensible size, the converter limits the long edge to 4000 pixels on High, 2400 on Balanced and 1600 on Small file. On an A4 page, 2400 pixels is roughly 200 dpi, which is enough for readable print, and 1600 is about 140 dpi, which is fine for reading on screen.
