PNG to PDF: How to Convert Screenshots and Graphics
What happens to transparency and text sharpness when you turn a PNG into a PDF, and how to get a clean result.
PNG is common for screenshots, logos and graphics. Turning one into a PDF is easy, but a few details differ from photos.
How to convert
- Open the image to PDF converter and add your PNG files.
- Choose "Same as image" to keep the exact proportions, or A4 for a printable page.
- Click Convert to PDF.
What happens to transparency
Pages created by this tool have a white background, so any transparent area of a PNG becomes white. If you need a coloured background, add it in an image editor before converting.
Will small text stay sharp?
Screenshots often contain small text. This converter saves each image inside the PDF as a high-quality JPEG, which keeps text readable at the High setting but is not lossless. If you need a lossless copy of a PNG inside a PDF, use desktop software such as Preview on a Mac or a PDF editor.
File size tips
A full-screen screenshot from a large monitor is a big file. Balanced quality usually keeps text legible at a much smaller size. Check the size shown after conversion and adjust if needed.
